Katherine Bigos, Music Therapist

Katherine received her music therapy degree from Elizabethtown College in 2009. She studied music therapy at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, for one semester, expanding her knowledge in the music therapy field outside of the United States. During her studies at Elizabethtown College, she received the Nevin W. Fischer scholarship based on outstanding achievement as a music major. She has taken 14 years of formal piano lessons and continues to challenge herself with new material in her free time. She completed a piano pedagogy class in 2007 and continues to teach piano in addition to beginner voice, guitar, and drums. She also became certified in Musikgarten in 2008. To complete her music therapy degree, she interned at Touch of Music, a music therapy and music education center in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Through Elizabethtown College and her internship, she gained experience in working with a variety of ages and diagnoses. She has experience working with toddlers, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. She also has experience in working with people with autism spectrum disorders, Asperger's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other developmental disabilities, dementia, and mental health disorders.
