5th Annual DALI QUARTET

CHAMBER MUSIC CAMP & FESTIVAL

Members of the Dali Quartet will lead a program dedicated to the art of Chamber Music. Activities will include daily chamber music coachings, chamber orchestra, string workshops and master classes presented by the Dali Quartet and prestegious guest faculty Roberto Diaz, Executive Director, Curtis Institute of Music, Linda Fiore, Senior Faculty Hartt School of Music, Julian Meyer, Faculty Temple Preparatory Gifted Programs, Belmary Lorca and Jesus Morales.

About the Faculty

Adriana Linares, Viola and Camp Director:

Soloist and active chamber musician. String Department Faculty at Kutztown University, Head of Strings and Chamber Music Director at the Community Conservatory of Music. Guest Principal Viola of the Philadelphia Virtuosi, Philadelphia Clasical Symphony and Harrisburgh Symphony. Member of the Satori Chamber Players, Dali String Quartet, and Madison String.  Served as guest artist and faculty at the Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival, the University of Louisville Chamber Music Program, and the Festival Nuevo Mundo in Venezuela. Recording under NAXOS label as soloist, world premiere of American composer Hower Hanson, “Summer Sea Side #2.  B.M Indiana University, M.M Temple University. Studies with Atar Arad, Roberto Diaz and Roger Tapping.  

Romulo Benavides, Violin:

Soloist recitalist. Winner of the Jaun Bautista Plaza Violin Competition. B.M. The Julliard School, M.M. Brooklyn College. Studies with Emil Friedman, Naoko Tanaka, Dorothy Delay and Itzhak Perlman. Regular soloist with Virtuosi de Caracas, Simon Bolivar Orchestra, Venezuela Symphony Orchestra and Carabobo Chamber Orchestra in Venezuela. His performances have been broadcast on Venezuelan National Television. Mr Benavides performs regularly with the Harrisburg symphony.

Carlos Rubio, Violin:

Violinist Carlos Rubio began his musical career as a member of Venezuela's famous Youth Orchestra System (“El Sistema”). Mr. Rubio has taught master classes and workshops at the University of North Texas, Denison University, University of Nebraska, University of Louisville, Festival de Música Latinoamericana in Colombia, the Simon Bolivar Conservatory of Music in Venezuela, and the SoundFest Chamber Music Festival. Carlos is a founding member of the Dalí String Quartet and performs with the Poor Richard’s String Quartet, the Philadelphia Virtuosi, Peter Nero and the Philly Pops, the Harrisburg Symphony, the Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra, and is a member of the children's music troupe Auricolae.

                               

Miguel Rojas, Cello:

B.M from “Conservatorio Simon Bolivar of Venezuela,” M.M. from Duquesne Univ. of Pittsburgh, and DMA from Michigan State University. Performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and the Pittsburgh Opera, recital lectures in Concert Series in Michigan, Pennsylvania, California, Carnegie Mellon University (PA), Rutgers University (Camden, NJ), A & M Corpus Christi University (TX), and University of Texas-Pan American. He currently teaches at the “Nelly Berman School of Music,” “Musicopia”.

About the Guest Artists

Roberto Diaz, Viola:

An active chamber musician, Mr. Díaz has performed with artists such as the Emerson String Quartet, Emanuel Ax, Yefim Bronfman, Christoph Eschenbach, Yo-Yo Ma, Mr. Sawallisch, and Isaac Stern. His festival appearances include Marlboro, Mostly Mozart at Lincoln Center, Spoleto, Kuhmo, and Verbier, among many others.

Linda Fiore, Violin:

Studied with Raphael Bronstein at Hartt School of Music. In the 70's, she studied at the Matsumoto Institute with Dr. Suzuki and has been a guest clinician and teacher trainer all over the world, Tanzania being the most recent. She and her students have toured Italy and Puerto Rico. She is currently Senior Faculty of the Suzuki Program at the Hartt School of Music.

Belmary Lorca,Violin:

B.M. Conservatory Simon Bolivar of Venezuela and M.M. Carnegie Mellon University.   She is a board member of the Greater Philadelphia Area Suzuki Association, is Suzuki Coordinator of the Community Music School in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, String Ensemble Instructor at Ursinus College and performs with the Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Gaudeamus Ensemble as well as in different ensembles throughout the area. Each summer  Mrs. Lorcas is an active guest of the Chamber Art Music Festival Madrid ,Spain.

Julian Meyer, Violin:

Mr. Meyer is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Performing Artswhere he studied with Jani Szanto.  He holds a Master of Music degree from Temple University where he studied with Helen Kwalwasser.  Further studies were at the Juilliard School of Music with Ivan Galamain and Dorothy DeLay.  Most of his work has been dedicated to teaching young children, producing a number who have soloed with the Philadelphia Orchestra and other area orchestras.  He is on the faculty at Temple University Music Preparatory Division Center for Gifted Young Musicians and the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential.

Jesus Morales, Cello:

Mr. Morales holds a bachelors degree from The Cleveland Institute of Music and has done postgraduate work at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.  He has appeared as soloist with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the Orquesta Sinfonica de Puerto Rico, the Camerata Symphony, the National Repertory Orchestra, the Starling Chamber Orchestra, and the Festival de Orquestas Sinfonica Juvenil de las Americas. He currently serves as Principal Cello with the Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, and Adjunct Faculty at Temple University.

 

Day Camp Information

A typical day in the camp will start with a chamber orchestra rehearsal, followed by quartet coachings and practices.  Full day campers will stay for lunch, string workshops and fun activities.

FULL Day: 9-3pm $425;  HALF Day: 9 to 12pm $300; SCHOLARSHIPS Available.

Admission to DALI Quartet Family Concert is included in the cost of the full day camp price.
